The ProjectColin Shears is launching an appeal to attract interest in a major reconstruction poject: to rebuild the Leyland "Tigress" Touring Coach of 1936.
Transport enthusiasts across the country are being challenged by Colin Shears to join in the reconstruction of a Leyland Tigress. The West of England Transport Collection has amassed a collection of Tigress chassis component parts which could be used in the project. Colin Shears says, " I think the reconstruction of such a supremely elegant vehicle would create a lot of interest among the public and would also provide us with a vehicle to operate on specialist heritage tours over Dartmoor and Exmoor. The Tigress's top speed of 41mph could be improved on by fitting a period overdrive geabox and the fuel consumption of four miles per gallon reduced by means of an LPG gas conversion".
